Position Description

The Translation Commons Localization Group is seeking volunteer Language Leads to act as the linguistic authority for their language. This is a remote opportunity offering the chance to shape linguistic resources and ensure quality across global projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain linguistic resources (dictionaries, style guides, grammar).
  • Develop and maintain bilingual glossaries and translation memories.
  • Evaluate translation/revision tests for potential volunteers.
  • Conduct Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA) reviews.
  • Assign translators/reviewers to projects based on suitability.
  • Support translators and reviewers in resolving terminology/translation issues.
  • Collaborate with Localization Group Management to improve workflows.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Native speaker of the target language.
  • Strong understanding of English as the source language.
  • 1+ year of relevant language industry experience.
  • Ability to maintain glossaries and translation memories.
  • Basic team management and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Weekly commitment of ~5 hours.
