Translation Commons is a nonprofit public charity dedicated to providing a reliable and scalable method for digitally rendering languages. Our mission is to solve the problem of unrepresented languages struggling to participate in a global communications network, and since 2015, we have successfully helped digitize numerous endangered languages.
Overview
We are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Editorial Content Lead to guide Translation Commons’
long-form and owned content direction. This role focuses on building editorial structure, coordinating contributors,
and ensuring high-quality communication across blog posts, newsletters, and company news.
The Editorial Content Lead will help shape how TC tells its story to volunteers, donors, partners, and the broader global community.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and mentor volunteer writers and content managers.
- Build and manage an editorial calendar aligned with marketing goals.
- Ensure consistency of tone, messaging, and storytelling across channels.
- Edit and review content before publishing.
- Identify and develop stories from volunteers, projects, partners, and communities.
- Collaborate with the Social Media, Design, PR, and Traffic teams to maximize content impact.
- Help improve content processes, workflows, and publishing standards.
Ideal Skills
- Experience in editorial leadership, content marketing, communications, or journalism.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple contributors and deadlines.
- Understanding of blog strategy, newsletters, and audience engagement.
- Experience with nonprofit, educational, or mission-driven communication is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Interest in digital inclusion, languages, or global collaboration.
