About Translation Commons
Translation Commons is a nonprofit public charity dedicated to providing a reliable and scalable method for digitally rendering languages. Our mission is to solve the problem of unrepresented languages struggling to participate in a global communications network, and since 2015, we have successfully helped digitize numerous endangered languages.
Position Description
Translation Commons is looking for a creative and motivated leader to take up the volunteer position of Operations Team Manager. The team has two managers working in conjunction with each other to establish and manage a team of volunteers to fulfill the functions of the Operations Team. This is a great opportunity for you to contribute to an international volunteer organization and to share your expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and improving the strategy of operations within Translation Commons
- Identifying operational needs and reorganizing or creating new operational teams to fulfill those needs
- Creating management roles for teams and interviewing volunteers to fill those roles
- Collaborating with the team managers to ensure that progress is being made and Translation Common’s vision is being carried out
- Ensuring operational consistency between all teams
- Being the central point of contact for all operational needs
- Acting as group owner on the organization’s Google-Suite and being responsible for adding members and controlling access rights
- Being ultimately responsible for the deliverables produced by TC Operations

- Taking initiative to identify problems and use your creativity to solve them
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead meetings
- Weekly commitment of at least 5 hours per week
