Position Description
We are seeking a creative, motivated, and passionate leader to take on the volunteer position of Talent Management Team Manager. This role is central to our Human Resources function, focusing on recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and development across our global volunteer community. The position works in conjunction with a co-manager to establish and oversee the entire Talent Management Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your expertise, contribute to an international volunteer organization, and gain senior management experience in HR and Talent Operations. This is a remote, volunteer opportunity. The Manager is the central point of contact for all Talent Management needs, providing strategic direction and operational oversight for the team. Responsibilities include:
Leadership & Strategy
- Team Oversight: Oversee the entire Talent function in alignment with TC’s Leadership guidance and mission.
- Framework Development: Work with the team advisor to develop and improve strategic frameworks, policies, and communication channels for all Talent Management processes.
- Recruitment Strategy: Define and improve the recruitment strategy and create roles that need to be filled within the team, leading the interviewing and selection of new Talent Team volunteers.
- Final Decisions: Making final decisions related to the Talent Management Team.
Volunteer Management & Operations
- Team Management: Manage, motivate, and delegate tasks to the Talent Management Team volunteers to ensure progress is being made.
- Talent Allocation: Oversee the process for allocating volunteers to different projects across Translation Commons based on skills and need.
- Onboarding & Engagement: Streamline and lead the onboarding, volunteer engagement, and communication processes.
- First Contact: Represent the Talent team as the first point of contact for incoming volunteers/applicants, including leading Meet & Greet and orientation sessions.
- Training: Train Talent team members to troubleshoot account access, tools, and other processes, and monitor volunteer status (active/non-active) and training schedules.
- Administration: Act as owner on the team’s G-Suite (managing members/access rights) and manage the housekeeping of records, master repository, and volunteer signups.
- Reporting: Produce HR and Talent related KPIs, conduct weekly Talent Team meetings, and oversee Letters of Recommendation/Recognition requests.
Qualifications and Commitment
- We are looking for individuals who can effectively motivate and inspire others, bringing both vision and hands-on operational skill.
- Experience: Proven experience in Talent Management, HR Operations, or Recruitment. A background in HR, Linguistics, or Localization is a strong asset.
- Leadership Qualities: Ability to motivate and inspire volunteers and possess a visionary outlook of the team’s contribution to TC’s mission.
- Initiative: A “go-getter” attitude with the ability to take initiative, develop new goals, identify problems, and use creativity to solve them.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, strong project management skills, and the ability to lead meetings.
- Technical: Working knowledge of HR tools and Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet) is a plus.
- Commitment: A weekly commitment of at least 5 hours is required, with a daily commitment (at least 1 hour, during PST/MST timezone) to monitor and respond to new applications or HR issues.
